For me a photo starts with an idea. In that sense I'm more of a designer than a photographer. If the idea is perfected, I start thinking about light and composition. Only then I take my camera, leaving some room to look for the perfect expression or pose. And there's always a considerable amount of time in post-production.

'Dinner with Dad' is a play by Lucas de Man for 'Het Zuidelijk Toneel', about fathers and sons.
These two pictures were purchased by the Dutch Ministry of Culture for their national collection, after being exhibited at ‘Revival of Captured Scenes’: an exhibition with 'the 150 best performing arts photos of the last century'.
